It
is with great pleasure that I open my closets and trunks
to share a passion that I have had for many years.
It started innocently enough …during a buying
trip for my bridal salon to New York City in 1996. I
stumbled upon two gorgeous antique photographs in a
flea market in Greenwich Village. Since I majored in
fashion merchandising and have a background in fashion
history, this was a perfect new hobby! Besides, I was
looking for a way to redecorate and personalize my salon.
These gems were a “good start.” It all began
with the photos, then the gowns, then everything related
to “weddings past.” Knowing the history
of weddings gives me the information to help my future
brides.
My collection has grown to this …my contacts everywhere
are always on the lookout for new treasures for the
collection. I keep thinking I should quit, but one more
ages masterpiece finds it’s way into the closet.
We collectors are a strange lot. Fortunately, my husband
has adjusted well and is supportive and understanding.
(I support his passions too!)
As collectors, we take on a stewardship role …
preserving these priceless garments and memorabilia
for future generations to enjoy. Thanks for joining
me here on this journey!
