Left: 1940's Post WW II. Formal gowns were not the norm at the end of World War II. Many shortages and rationing had taken their toll. The look was the sweetheart neckline held in place with just a touch of beading. Princess lines and long fitted sleeves add to this pre "Dior's New Look." this one is created in all chantilly lace. Right: 1947 Brocade wedding gown. The 1940's signature sweetheart neckline is combined with an attatched "cape." A side metal zipper and self covered fabric buttons on the tapered sleeves. Rich floral brocade speaks for itself, no other embellishments are needed here!

1947 Created entirely in slipper satin, the rich fabric makes a strong statment. Hand embroidery details the yoke. Satin covered buttons dance down the back and bridal points fall gently onto the hand.
